I'm a lefty handed bass player also, but I could never afford lefty basses, which in turn got me annoyed so by the time I could I wasI playing right-handed basses upside down. I was also a drummer for more than half of my life, andwhenever my bands would take a brake I would just pick up the bass players bass and I guess I got used to flipping it upside down. I found a great teacher who agreed to teach me that way. I
know how hard it can be to find what you want in a lefty version, I had many drum accessories special ordered and custom made which cost me a fortune. I also decided to play upside down because you never know when you'll be in a situation where you have to grab someones bass because they are ill, or if you want to sit in with people it comes in handy, I learned this when I was a drummer and people would moam and whine when I needed to switch the kit around to play lefty. I learned how to play
drums right too and I came up with some killer fills that way.
